PUCA’s POLITCAL ACTION COMMITTEE

puca PAC CONTRIBUTIONS

2024 CAMPAIGN SEASON

As we all know, it takes political contributions to be successful in State Government. We also know we are in a fight for our industry’s survival. Changes to the Procurement Code, improvements to the PA One Call Law, elimination of Sales Tax on government projects, and funding for Clean Water all require legislative action. For the utility construction industry to really make its voice heard in Pennsylvania, PUCA’s Political Action Committee, PUCA PAC, needs your support now more than ever.

Our goal is attainable, but it takes you to make it happen. All that’s needed is $50 a month. Just think of it as taking yourself out to dinner. Isn’t your livelihood worth the cost of one inexpensive dinner each month? Your $50 monthly contribution could make us a powerful political organization on the Pennsylvania Hill.

Don’t make the mistake of thinking that someone else will make a contribution for you. The future of your company depends on your participation. If every member participates, our organization’s clout will grow exponentially!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the money used for/what does PUCA PAC do?
PUCA PAC makes campaign contributions to our friends and champions in State Government. Contributions are also used to build relationships with those Leaders and Members of State Government whose support is needed. Some of our friends in State Government will need financial support to get re-elected, and will need our help ~ we can’t help them without your support. Whatever you can give will be appreciated, but please give as much as possible.

Why should I contribute to PUCA PAC?
Every association in Pennsylvania needs PAC dollars to be effective advocates of their members. PAC dollars cannot come from membership dues or other revenue. PUCA PAC can only be made strong through the individual support of those in the utility industry.

Are my contributions tax deductible?
Contributions are not tax deductible as charitable contributions for federal or state income tax purposes. Also, corporations are barred from donating, so the contribution has to come from your personal funds. State law also requires PUCA PAC to report the name, mailing address, occupation and employer of each individual who contributes more than $50 in an election cycle. You can give up to $5,000 to the PUCA PAC in a calendar year.

Why must the contribution be from personal funds?
Corporate contributions (operating funds from an incorporated entity) are prohibited by state law. If you would like to make a contribution from corporate funds, you may contribute to the PUCA Legal Defense Fund (LDF). There are no limits on contributions to the LDF. Funds are used to support our advocacy efforts in Pennsylvania, but cannot be used for candidate contributions.

What are the benefits of contributing?
Government has a huge impact on the funding for your industry and thereby your business and if we don’t have a seat at the table, we put both at risk.
